Hi All:

I'm wondering how many of you have the Book Port from APH? I know of some uses for the device, but I'm curious how you are using it in your daily lives. In my day job, I recommend speech and braille output devices. On paper, I wonder if I've been underestimating the uses of this device. In particular, do any of you use it as a device for taking notes? I know it doesn't have the robustness of an mpower or pacmate, but I'm wondering if any of you use it for this specifically?

I had a Book Port until a couple of months ago when it and a bunch of other access tech was stolen. Anyway, I found the editor to be ok in a pinch, but nothing I would want to use on a regular basis to, for example, take notes in a classroom setting. It was nice to jot down a name and phone number if I didn't have anything else around and didn't want to use the sound recorder. The sound recorder was also nice for recording a quick memo or piece of info, but again, not what a student should be using to take notes. I mainly used my unit to listen to MP3 files, Audible books, and brf files from Bookshare. Having the ability to listen to HTML files was also nice. It is a great unit and I will probably be purchasing another one at some point in the near future.
